Deutsche Bank improves Australian Workplace Equality Index 2016 rank

Deutsche Bank Australia has advanced its position in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) 2016, progressing to 17th from 21st in 2015.

The AWEI is the definitive national benchmark on LGBTI workplace inclusion, driving best practice in Australia and setting a comparative benchmark for employers across all sectors.

Following this year’s results, Deutsche Bank is now ranked as the leading foreign investment bank in Australia for LGBTI inclusion out of this year’s top 20 employers.

In addition, Deutsche Bank’s LGBTI employee network, dbPride (with over 75 allies), was shortlisted for the Employee Network of the Year Award in recognition of the activities, events, resources and support it offers to promote a more diverse and inclusive work environment.

Michael Ormaechea, Chief Executive Officer of Deutsche Bank Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are very proud that Deutsche Bank has continued to progress up the rankings in this year’s Australian Workplace Equality Index, having now been recognised as the leading foreign investment bank in Australia for LGBTI inclusion ”.

Deutsche Bank today also announced the appointment of Vic Jokovic, Co-Head of Global Markets, Australia and New Zealand, as the new Executive Sponsor of employee network dbPride.

Ormaechea said: “As a global organisation, Deutsche Bank’s culture is built on diversity and inclusion, developing teams with different backgrounds, skills and experiences to be increasingly reflective of our community and clients”.

“Vic’s appointment reflects our ongoing progress in making diversity real and relevant by embedding it with senior management and promoting an open, prejudice-free culture in which employees feel they can bring their whole selves to work.”
