Alan Joyce and Diane Smith-Gander discuss the future of the sunshine state with QLD Premier Campbell Newman at eighth Deutsche Bank-sponsored Business Leaders Forum

Qantas Chief Executive Officer, Alan Joyce, and Wesfarmers Non-Executive Director, Diane Smith-Gander, will discuss the future of the sunshine state with Queensland Premier the Hon Campbell Newman at the sold-out The Australian and Deutsche Bank Business Leaders Forum on 27 November 2013. This is the eighth forum of its kind and the second to be held in Brisbane since the series began in October 2010.

JT Macfarlane, Executive Chairman, Deutsche Bank Australia & New Zealand, will open the event in front of a 200-strong audience that will include Deutsche Bank’s key clients in Queensland.

Newman will make the keynote address before joining Joyce and Smith-Gander, who is also Chair-elect of Transfield Services Limited, to debate the opportunities and challenges ahead for state, including its imminent gas bounty and Queensland's reputation as a tourist magnet. The panel will be moderated by The Australian’s Geoff Elliott.

The Australian and Deutsche Bank Business Leaders Forum gives corporate Australia an opportunity to hear from captains of industry on issues ranging from government policy and corporate governance to productivity to the economic outlook. Over the last three years, The Australian and Deutsche Bank have held seven forums in Sydney, Melbourne and, most recently, in Perth where the speakers included West Australia Premier Colin Barnett and business leaders from resource companies BHP, Santos and Fortescue.
