The Hon Colin Barnett, re-elected as Premier of Western Australia just last month, gives the keynote address on Friday at the third highly successful Deutsche Bank-sponsored Business Leaders Forum in Perth.
Barnett joins a panel of industry leaders including Jimmy Wilson, President, Iron Ore, BHP, Nev Power, Chief Executive Officer, Fortescue Metals Group and John Anderson, Vice President, Western Australia and Northern Territory, Santos, to explore the big issues affecting Western Australia and the broader Australian economy.
In a discussion moderated by The Australian’s John Durie, the panel looks beyond the peaking commodity cycle and construction boom to ask - where next for Western Australia?
Among a 200-strong audience, Kim Williams, News Limited Chief Executive Officer, will give the opening address and JT Macfarlane, Deutsche Bank Executive Chairman, Australia and New Zealand, will give the closing remarks.
The Australian and Deutsche Bank Business Leaders Forum series began in October 2010 and has gone on to host sold-out events in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. The successful events give corporate Australia an opportunity to hear from captains of industry on issues ranging from government policy and corporate governance to productivity to the economic outlook.
This third visit to Perth reflects Deutsche Bank and The Australian’s belief in the importance of promoting debate between senior politicians and industry leaders in this complex, resources-driven economy.
Coverage from the event will be in The Weekend Australian.
